Meet the Management Team
I have over 20 years of experience within the Hospitality Recruitment industry. After working in London for the largest national recruitment company and managing their London hospitality offices, I decided to go it alone and started supplying chefs to the Hotel, Restaurant and Events market in London and the Home Counties. In 1997 we supplied our first chef and 14 years later we are still going strong and still supplying to our very first client!
I must be mad to love the buzz of chef recruitment with all the ups and downs but I do. I have 3 boys and a mad dog, all of which keep me very busy! My motto in life is simple; work hard, holiday harder!!
I’m not saying I’m old, but my catering career began nearly 20 years ago, when I left University and began my first job as a trainee Events Manager. Over the next five years I progressed to Events Manager and then moved over to Contract Catering. I was then persuaded to move over to ‘The Dark Side’ and began my career in hospitality recruitment and haven’t looked back since!! My spare time is taken up with running after my two children, husband and the dog - what a glamorous life I lead!! I am partial to the odd Gin and Tonic, glass of fizz or whatever’s on offer! My favourite restaurant is The Hand in Flowers, but will never say no to a good curry!
I’ve spent most of my working life being freelance, so I’ve had more jobs than most! Throughout my working life I’ve always returned to recruitment, I just can’t keep away. I got my first job for a recruitment agency the day I received my NI card in the post two weeks before my 16th birthday and spent every school holiday working there until I finished my A-Levels. I then went out into the big bad world and have spent most of my time working in the Film, TV and Live Events industries, some of my favourite jobs have been working on various European MTV Awards, Live 8 at Hyde Park, touring with bands and organising the most expensive wedding in the USA to date! I am now back in the world of recruitment, and loving every minute, I have a lot in common with my workmates too, I also love food, G&Ts, mad dogs and holidays.
I’m the newest member of the team here at Base and compared to the other old timers I’m relatively new to this industry. My working life has been quite varied, starting in sales administration and expanding into sales, corporate advertising and software, and a few years in business child-minding for Ofsted when my own son was small. When I do get some spare time, I enjoy martial arts training and currently working towards a Black Belt in Kickboxing. After 3 years in hospitality recruitment, I too have acquired a crazy dog (Jack Russell called Bonnie) and a taste for Gin & Tonic.
